Why we do this
We built Contests for a Cause because the sports entertainment world had become dominated by two things: giant commercial platforms that use your attention to sell ads, and betting apps that have spent billions normalizing the idea that watching a game should cost you money.
Both models extract value from fans. Neither gives anything back in a way that matters. We wanted to do something different.
So we took the best part of those experiences — the fun of picking a bracket with friends, the thrill of having a stake in a race or tournament — and we made the entry fee do real good. Every dollar that goes into a Contests for a Cause entry goes toward helping people in need.

Giving Back
Each Contests for a Cause event is paired with a charity chosen for that contest. Every dollar of proceeds goes directly to that cause — no middlemen, no overhead cut.

$0Castaways Against Cancer is a 100% volunteer non-profit fighting cancer through a series of extraordinary physical journeys — kayakers paddle 160 miles from Miami to Key West over seven days, runners relay 170 miles over two days, and cyclists pedal the same 170 miles in a single grueling day.
What began in 2000 with four sea-hippies on the water has grown into a powerful movement raising millions for groundbreaking cancer research.
Fueled by founder Steve O'Brien's mission to "light a candle rather than curse the darkness," every mile they travel keeps hope alive for a cancer-free world.
The simple version
Pay a small entry fee. A portion goes directly to the designated charity via our giving platform. You're in.
Each contest has its own format — tiered drafts, brackets, prediction games — all designed for casual fans, not just experts.
Follow the leaderboard as the event unfolds. The person with the most points wins — but everyone who entered helped a cause.
